Food and knowledge to take away

On the Whitsun weekend of 2023, we guided visitors at the Limes Fort Saalburg through the world of Roman cooking and baking as part of the event "Cooking through the eras". There was something for every taste, every hunger and every interest: Cereal porridge and simple ingredients from the kitchen of the poor people, hard "Panis Militaris" from the rations of the soldiers, tasty bread from the large oven, all kinds of fine dishes from the high cuisine, and to round off the enjoyment, some mulsum to toast or some sweet globi as dessert. Everything was freshly prepared on the spot and partly in front of the audience, garnished with comprehensive explanations about the origin of the dishes and many other topics from the world of the Romans.
